about The Artist
I have been an artist at heart my whole life. I have dabbled in lots of different mediums: drawing, sculpting, jewelry making, acrylics, watercolors and more. As a kid I thought about becoming an artist, but wasn’t sure how to make that happen. So art remained a hobby while I went into a career dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities in different settings, the last five years of which were in special education. When I wasn’t working, I was still being creative. I starting knitting, kept drawing, and even painted murals for my daughter’s plays at school.
For Christmas of 2020 I was gifted some new art supplies from my husband. Among them was a needle felting kit. Needle felting was something I had heard of but never tried. Once I did, I was hooked. For the first time I was creating with a medium that felt completely intuitive and allowed me to express and create what I wanted. The inspirations for my work include nature, birds, landscapes, and sea life. It is a wonderfully forgiving medium that allows for a lot of trial and error, and is wonderful to sculpt with. It is also amazing to “”paint” with, adding depth and texture to two dimensional pieces.
Last year, with the support of my amazing husband and two children, I left education to finally pursue art full time. This year has been living proof that it is never too late to fulfil childhood dreams and I am so honored to be sharing my art with others.
When I am not creating, I enjoy hanging out with my family and our three dogs… kayaking, camping, and spending time outdoors, where I am always keeping an eye out for my next inspiration.
